Bio of David R. Portney
My professional training background, in brief:
In 1982 I began assisting teaching classes at The Academy of Judo and Karate in Redondo Beach, CA where I'd been studying since January of 1980 - attaining full instructorship in 1985 when I earned Shodan level (black belt) in Zendo Ryu style of Shorin-ji Kempo and I continued teaching several classes per week until September of 1997. I also studied extensively with masters in different fields such as Hypnotherapy with Dr. A. Krasner, Applied Kinesiology with John Varun Maguire, Dr. Robert Blaich, and interned with Rich Clayton. In 1991 I began studying in the field of Neuro-Linguistics (NLP) with a number of masters including Michael Grinder, Jayne Brown, Marilyn Veditz (now Marilyn Seargent) Tim Halborn, Christina Hall, Gerry Schmidt, Phil and Norma Baretta, and Dr. Tad James along with John Overdurf, Julie Silverthorn and David Shephard and I earned Master Practitioner and Trainer level in 1994 and 1996 respectively.
Since 1992 I've taught seminars classes and workshops for Beach Cities Health District in Redondo Beach, The Los Angeles Times, The California WorkSource Centers and Workforce Investment Network, Southern California Regional Occupational Center, Mesa Institute in Costa Mesa, The Learning Annex, West Coast Escrow, The Society of Certified Public Accountants, Reavan's Corporation, and the National Notary Association, among others. I've been quoted by prestigious newspapers including The Providence Journal, L.A. Times, and the Minneapolis / St. Paul Tribune and many other well known publications.
In 2002, I accepted a professional trainer position for an international training company, Transportation Development Group headed by James E. Powell, and I also conduct regular workshops and seminars for the prestigious Learning Annex of Los Angeles, the same organization that regularly features workshops with speakers such as Tony Robbins, Robert Kiosaki and Donald Trump. I'm the author of several books and audio books including the Amazon.com bestseller, "Ace Any Job Interview with Confidence". I've also been retained as the Managing Director of Training for Reavan's Corp. in Torrance, California.
I have formed two companies, The American Seminar Academy as well as David Portney & Associates. My business is focused on conducting seminars and workshops, and teaching others how to set up and deliver their own money-making seminars.
